Starlink’s path for Indian GMPCS (Satellite Broadband) license has become easier. Starlink’s satellite broadband service license application in the country is now almost certain to proceed. Elon Musk’s satellite broadband provider company has agreed to meet India’s data localization and security standards. According to these guidelines, satellite operators are required to store data locally and enable potential data access for intelligence agencies. These are the most important conditions for obtaining a license from the Department of Telecommunications (DoT).
According to a report by Moneycontrol, Starlink has accepted the important conditions of DoT. Because of this, the path to launch satellite broadband connection service in India now reportedly seems clear. The report said that Elon Musk’s company has agreed to meet the data localization and security standards of the government, after which Starlink is now ready to take a step forward for the license application in India.
Satellite network has started in 100 countries
There are now 100 countries in the world where satellite networks have been started. The path has not been cleared in India regarding this. This is because Elon Musk will have to follow many rules. Spectrum is also not available for this in India. This is the reason why service is not starting here.
Many challenges for Starlink in India
Apart from this, there are other challenges of Starlink in India. In many places, every effort is being made to get rid of it. Starlink plans seem a bit expensive in developed countries. At the same time, this is being seen in rural areas also. Due to it being expensive, people are not showing much interest in the plan. Efforts are being made to get rid of it in many places and Elon Musk’s company is working rapidly in this direction.
